Coach Ian – Week in Review 04/10/2022

“Meditation and running are essentially addressing these two kinds of pain. Of course, we cannot run all day and all night, and it is difficult to meditate all day and all night. However, when we include these two disciplines in our daily routine, we are making our body and mind more livable.”

Running with the Mind of Meditation: Lessons for Training Body and Mind by Sakyong Mipham

Move in Silence

I promote a lot on social media. We all know the business of boxing and how to build a fighter early in their career. Some old school heads try to tell fighters to stay off social media – but social media is a big part of the marketing of a fighter. The early part of a fighters’ career is based upon being able to sell tickets. Promoters won’t put you on a card if you don’t help their bottom line.

As one of the coaches, I try to keep our community updated on what our fighters are up to. Makes it so the fighter doesn’t have to worry about promoting his or her self and can focus solely on training. Mark was the A-side for his first two fights, despite fighting a local guy in his debut. Why? Because he sells tickets.

Mark Salgado has a major opportunity coming his way. He’s coming in as the B-side and all eyes are on his opponent. It’s a different position to be in, but we only have to focus on having Mark ready. It’s a nice position to be in. You won’t hear much from us until March 15th.

As an active member of Dreamland, you will receive the materials and video recaps of each lesson through my website under the “Premium Drills” section.

Dreamland has also increased its outdoor capacity to 16 students per class, and lifted limits on how many classes you can sign up for in a week. Join me for a class on Fridays at 4:30PM!

Our practices this week featured the following:

  • Doubling the left hook
  • Moving your head off the center line
  • Footwork
  • Bodyweight circuits
  • And more!
